New WordPress plugin: Comment E-Mail Verification

Nils asked me whether I knew about a WordPress plugin that would verify a comment author’s e-mail address. I didn’t, so I wrote one myself.

The plugin is in its early stages, the current version number is 0.1 – you are welcome to test-drive it and watch it grow, or watch me procrastinate and forget about it over my day-job :/ if I do, go ahead and nag!

    hello :) just downloaded your plugin! sounds cool.. but I didnt receive any email when my comment held for moderation.. whats wrong?? :( I really want to use this plugin.

    Can you post a link to the blog you are using this on? You need to have WordPress 2.9 (and I will have the plugin check the WordPress version upon activation in a future version).

    Do you get other notification mail from that blog? Maybe wp_mail is not working in your setup altogether?

    You may also want to check the spam queue of your mail account.

    Thank you, by the way: your above comment was the first comment approved through my plugin on any of my blogs (other than test comments by Nils or myself).

    hehe. my blog is too pink & Girly so dont be shock. lol

    im using WP 2.9.1 and yes, I get other notificiation email like the default comment notification..

    what is wp_mail?!?! aww.. should I upload new plugin again?
    like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/wp_mail???

    I really want to use this plugin :)

    I would have loved to check out your blog, but that site is dead. I get a “403 Forbidden” error.

    hello :) its me again!! :) your plugin is working great!!! (maybe because of my new host?)
    it sends to comment author right? I thought the admin is the only one who can receive the email… :(

    Yes, the plugin sends a message to the comment author, never to the admin. Having email sent to the admin is a WordPress core feature. — I will have the core options relevant to moderation and comment notification added to the settings screen in a future release…

    I’m happy things worked out for you, and yes: the new host may have been the trick. — There are a great number of things that can go wrong sending email from a PHP web application such as WordPress and I intend to add links to helpful articles to the contextual help… this is work in progress.
